La
Rocche is a typical Tuscan 19th Century country residence, which over
the past two years, has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen.
The
ground floor of La Rocche comprises a large dining room with a vaulted brick
ceiling and
a vast stone fireplace that dominates the far wall.
On
the first floor the large cosy suites of rooms are furnished with antiques in
keeping with the period of the house, with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds.
Here at La Rocche, although you live as part of our large family, we do respect our guest’s privacy.
Le Rocche has been in the Magnani family for over two hundred years.
We farm 20 hectares of land, located 400 metres above sea level.where we produce, amongst other things, our own organic extra-virgin olive oil, flour, honey, wine and jams all of which are made to ancient and traditional Tuscan methods.
From our position, high in the hills, we have spectacular views over rolling hills, fields, vineyards and olive
groves.
Tina
and Sara are the “ massaie” – or housekeepers- who will be looking after
you during your stay at La Rocche.
All the food they prepare comes fresh from the farm and the recipes they
follow are ones that have been handed down through the family over many
generations and are superbly cooked and served with local or Tuscany wines.
For
those guests wanting a more active lifestyle there is horseback riding, swimming,
golf and tennis nearby.
In addition you can hire mountain bikes or just walk in the surrounding
hills.
During
the summer months surrounding towns and villages have “sagre” – festivals
- which usually include music and dancing and eating and drinking local food and
wine.
Further afield are many lovely hill top towns as well as major cities like Florence, Arezzo and Siena – all of which are easily accessible. We will be more than happy to assist you in any way to make your stay with us a warm and memorable experience.
